Social Media Secrets for Early-Career Researchers

THE GSMS PHD COUNCIL | EDUCATIONAL EVENTS

In the digital era, social media platforms can have a significant impact on our career choices and opportunities. In this workshop, we tackle the challenges and opportunities of using social media as scientists. Using Twitter as a case study, we will discuss various aspects of social media usage, ranging from rules of engagement, content creation, and social safety.

The workshop will be led by project leader Léonie de Jonge, assistant professor in European Politics & Society at the University of Groningen. Léonie is interested in right-wing populist parties in Western Europe. Her PhD focused on the success and failure of right-wing populist parties in the Benelux countries. Besides studying populism, Léonie is interested in European integration, comparative politics, party politics and (social) media research.
